Context

Problem.png

Recognizing the vulnerability of this age group—and the limitations of existing programs—Flower Your Power focuses on topics often left out, including human development, sexual orientation, and common infections.

To address the issue of unreliable or inaccessible sources, the project explores the potential of online consultation services—inspired by existing models for other medications and grounded in ongoing political discussions around contraceptive access.

Goal

To create a platform that delivers holistic, accessible, and age-appropriate sexual health education, while also offering a trusted bridge to healthcare services.
Though conceptual, the final vision includes a digital platform that combines information, community, and expert access in one safe space.

Design Process

brainstorm.png

We began with a wide exploration of current gaps in sexual education, using desk research to understand policy, digital habits, and healthcare access.

Parallel to that, we carried out field research through interviews and cultural probes with teenage girls. We mapped our insights visually, which helped us structure the research and spark deeper internal discussions.

Qualitative Research and Participatory Approach

In conversations with around 10 girls, we were able to identify recurring patterns and needs, which led to the creation of an initial user persona. This profiling exercise helped us define the scope and direction for the potential sex-ed platform, ensuring it would be tailored to the real contexts and challenges girls face.

Outcome

Flower Your Power envisions a digital platform made up of several integrated elements:

This platform is designed to offer more than just information—it aims to build trust, confidence, and community, co-created with its target users.

To better understand how the platform could fit into girls’ lives, we developed a user journey that maps out key moments—from discovery and first interaction, to ongoing use and engagement.
This helped us visualize how girls might encounter the platform, what would motivate them to use it, and how it could support them over time with relevant, accessible content and services.

Reflection

As a woman, this topic felt naturally close to me.

Listening to girls' stories throughout the research phase deepened my empathy and highlighted just how fragmented female healthcare still is.

Even though this was a conceptual project, it became a turning point for me. It sparked a strong interest in female health, access, and equity, and has inspired me to continue exploring how design can contribute to healthcare that is inclusive, approachable, and barrier-free for all.
